I have always loved photography. There is something exhilarating about capturing the world around you through a lens. It's like holding a mirror up to the world and then freezing subtle moments in time.

My photography journey began years ago when I was working in radio. You might think, what does photography have to do with radio? Well, at first very little, but my career in broadcast started in the early-mid 2000s. It was just before the launch of YouTube and the public launch of Facebook - the birth of social media.
When Facebook was made available to the general public, no one really quite knew what to do with it from a business angle. There wasn't a roadmap for what to post or what to track. There were hardly any analytics outside of the earliest ones rolled out on the platforms themselves. We had to learn to navigate and brand social media from the ground floor.
Also, I worked small-town radio, so the budget was minuscule to non-existent most years. We had to create something from very little or nothing. That's when I really started investing time in taking photos. Photography was one thing I found did well on social media. From people tagging themselves in our event photos to them sharing concert photos, that medium provided traffic for us and helped us find fans.
Fastforward to today. Radio is in my distant past, but photography feels like my future. Whether this remains my hobby or becomes my professional career (that is the dream), it's something I've been craving creatively once again.
So, here we are. Welcome to my blog. I hope you find as much joy reading it as I find in writing it. I am not an expert on photography, but simply a hobbyist with a passion and a desire to learn. On that note, your comments are always welcome.
In my blog I will talk about the things and places I am photographing, but will also share some of my methodology and the ideas behind my experimentation in the medium. If you are a beginner trying to learn, well, I hope you find something interesting here, because that's what I am and that's what I'm doing - learning, growing, and developing my photography skills.
Let's learn together!
